Chris O’Neal

Chris O’Neal began his career in Louisiana as an elementary and middle school teacher, then finding his way as a technology specialist and state director of technology.  Currently, he is Adjunct Faculty at the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary while dividing his time as an Educational Leadership Consultant.  He served as the State Director for the Virginia Initiative for Technology and Administrative Leadership for seven years.

Mr. O’Neal has experience in administering over $80 million in technology grants and opportunities, an extensive background in professional development, planning, and educational-change implementation, and has provided numerous professional development institutes, workshops, and in-services.  He is well-versed in educational technology research and evaluation.  He has won Community Leadership and Teacher of the Year awards, been a presenter at numerous state, national, and international conferences, and has extensive experience with legislative and school board policy, presentations, and committees.

Mr. O’Neal has been an online instructor for technology leadership graduate-level courses at University of Virginia, Louisiana State University, and Louisiana Tech University. He is a consultant to ISTE, the George Lucas Education Foundation, the U.S. State Educational Technology Directors’ Association (SETDA), the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE), and numerous national and international educational organizations.

He has been profiled as a “Shaper of our Future” by Converge magazine, (Aug.2001 issue) and received the “Making it Happen” award in December 2003.
